Coiling¶

Setting a coiling initial strain models the bending of a long rod, e.g. a prolonged fiber, so that the body is coiled around a center. We assume that the rod is directed in the $z$ - direction. Then only the $zz$ - component is nonzero:

where $R$ is the distance to the coiling center in the $x$ - coordinate direction and $x_0$ is the $x$ - position, where no distortion takes place.
